Padam Bahadur Gurung, President, GAESO Delivering Speech in Salme Danda
Savapati giving speech on SYANGJA, NOVEMBER 20 – A collective last rites ceremony for 60 thousand Gurkha soldiers who gave away their lives for world peace and the British Empire in the Second World War has begun today.
The condolence event is being organised by the Gurkha Army Ex-Servicemen Association GAESO at Salmedanda in Fedikhola VDC in Syangja district. The condolence ceremony will go on till the 22nd of November.
President of GAESO Padam Bahadur Gurung said the event was being held to perform the last rites of the Gurkha soldiers who lost lives fighting for the British Empire in the Second World War and whose last rites were yet to be performed.
Eighteen ethnic groups including Gurung, Magar, Rai, Limbu, Pun, Yakha, Sunuwar, Sherpa, Tamang, Dura, Bhujel, Newar, Thakuri, Thakali, Dalit, Brahman, Kshetri and Hyalmo will perform rites as per their respective cultures.
